Manuscript letter of Ramirez Stennett, U. S. Navy Yard, Pensacola, January 3, 1846 to Bryon Diman, Bristol, Rhode Island, seeking acknowledgement of a $600 draft on the Bank of Mobile, sent to Diman by Stennett on behalf of F. M. Dimond, U. S. Consul in Vera Cruz. One sheet folded, postmarked 'Pensacola Jan 3" in black circular stamp, with manuscript postage "10." Byron Diman (1795-1865) was Lieutenant Governor of Rhode Island (later Governor); Francis Moore Dimond (1796-1859) was United States Consul to the Mexican port city of Vera Cruz (1842-1849), and also later Governor of Rhode Island.
