Manuscript letter, A. F. Lawyer, United States Ship Warren, Pensacola Bay, April 20, 1840 to Thomas Lawyer, Lawyersville, New York (Schoharie County). Writer is in naval service on the U.S.S. Warren. Describes briefly their sea trips (Havana, etc.) and return of squadron to Pensacola. Doesn't believe Whigs could defeat Van Buren in election, etc. With single circle Pensacola post office cancel, April 22, and "50" rate.
