Scope and Contents

Marianna, Florida in Jackson County celebrated a Satsuma Orange Festival on November 8-9, 1928 featuring parades, a selection of Satuma Queen, band concert, and other festivities.  This film was created by the Marianna Fruit Company and features scenes of downtown Marianna, the new Hotel Chipola with its miniature golf course, and first public address by newly elected Florida Governor Doyle Carlton.   The film is silent; it may have been shot in color originally but these have faded by the time it was converted to video in the late 1990s.
