Summary Note
Dozens of different types of tickets were issued to the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois which ran May 1 to October 30th, 1893. Shown here are "special day" tickets.
&nnsp; The "Chicago Day" ticket commemorated the anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, the design featuring a 'phoenix' rising from the ashes. The reverse shows Fort Dearborn, built in 1816 to protect settlers.
&nnsp; The "Manhattan Day" ticket was held a week before the Fair closed and officials from Manhattan were invited to deliver speeches lauding their city and Chicago.
