Summary Note

On June 1-5, 2009, the University of West Florida hosted the 4th US-European Workshop and Flight Competition for Micro Air Vehicles (iMAV).  Teams from universities around the world attended, each competing with a micro air vehicle or MAV, sometimes called drone aircraft, demonstrating manueverability through and around objects.  This collection of photographs were taken by Ron Besser of the indoor aviation robotics flying competition.

  &nnsp; Of note is the team (white shirts) from the University of New South Wales (UNSW, Australia) which won first prize for their paper on the development of their micro air vehicle, MAVSTAR, and third place for its control and navigation abilities.

Photographs and mages may be used by researchers provided credit is given to the University Archives and West Florida History Center, UWF Libraries, Pensacola.   Photographs and images may not be sol, marketed, or used for commercial applications without exress permisson from the University of West Florida.

Physical Description Note

The original CD contains digital photographs numbered DSC_0001 to DSC_0112, but 0004 is not present.   The decision in Archives was made to not edit the collection, and post all the photographs though they have been resized to fit storage requirements.  The original digital images can be obtained from the Besser Collection.
