The 1904 Editon of The Florida Sentinel ran a feature titled "The Race in Pensacola" which featured prominent African Americans of Pensacola and included this photoraph of Dr. Charles V. Smith, M. D. It noted him as one of "six professional colored physicians" and also noted that of the six, only Dr. Smith could answer to the name "papa." (e.g. married with children).
&nnsp; In another section of the 1904 Edition of The Florida Sentinel, a page featured "Some Residences of Colored Families of Pensacola" featuring homes of prominent African-Americans in Pensacola, Florida. This photograph was titled "Residence of Dr. C. V. Smith, Physician and Surgeon." .
