Records, 1989- , of the Dean's Council and Extended Deans Council, including agendas, informal minutes, reports, handouts, study materials, and related documentation. Subjects include enrollment, budgets, capital improvement programs, master plans, the library, classroom space, faculty awards, salary data, grant reports, policies on overload and related academic matters.



OTHER INFORMATION:



The Dean's Council is comprised of the Provost, Vice-Provosts, Deans of the Colleges, and Directors. Once a month, the Council is expanded for an Extended Dean's Council meeting to include representatives from university governance and other areas. The Council is both policy-making and an information sharing body, dealing with all aspects of academic affairs.



No formal minutes are kept, except the vice provost maintains informal minutes or notes of the actions of the Council. This collection comprises the notebooks kept by the Office of the Provost which includes the formal agendas, Dr. Backman's notes, and handouts and reports circulated to the Council or discussed as part of the agenda. Major subjects and reports listed on the collection inventory represent only those items distributed and attached to the agenda or Backman notes. Many of the meeting agendas cover subjects for which there is no separate documentation. This was done to enable electronic searching by terms.
