Scope and Contents

Personal papers, 1904-1964, of Walter H. Resler, Brooklyn, New York and Pensacola, Florida including correspondence, photographs, clippings, imprints, glass negatives, periodicals, and microfilm. Subjects include the history of Brooklyn, Huntington, and Long Island, New York; Abraham Lincoln; World War II, including mobilization, scrap metal drives, and the American Legion of Huntington's Honor Roll of servicemen and women in World War II. Correspondents include Bernard M. Baruch and Thomas E. Dewey. Photographs include the Brooks, Resler, and Sanders families; West Palm Beach, Florida; Mexico and Mexico City, and related topics.

Other books and periodicals donated were transferred to the library's book collections, including the Rare Book Room. A list of these is available in the accession file.



Resler's collection of historical newspapers is listed as a separate collection. Approximately five boxes of newspapers dealing with World War II and aviation were transferred to the National Museum of Naval Aviation for use in their collections.

Permission may be granted by the Special Collections Librarian for such reprography dependent on issues of copyright, ownership, condition, donor agreements, etc. In general, staff do not make reproductions of copyright materials or materials for which title is not owned by the institution. Recent revisions in the U.S. Copyright Law extended the copyright of correspondence, letters, and other personal papers to the life of the author plus seventy years.
