New York Times Mid-Week Pictorial Newspaper Collection
Scope and Contents
Select run of the New York Times Mid-Week Pictorial War Extra, November 12, 1914 through August 19, 1915, covering World War I through maps and pictures of events around the world.
This set is being retained for research and exhibit use. A complete bound set of the publication is held by the Library (D 501 N6) and a physical examination shows the bound set to be deteriorating and in poorer condition than this smaller group.
This publication does have a title change. The the outbreak of World War I, the New York Times began publishing a mid-week pictorial tabloid extra, titled Mid-Week Pictorial War Extra (September 17, 1914 to February 4, 1915) and renamed Mid-Week Pictorial (February 11, 1915 to February 21, 1918).
